This thread reminds me of what an older quilty friend said when I first started quilting. "We wash things to death." I was a little horrified at the thought, but it makes sense. Our clean obsession just shreds quilts. She mentioned that quilts were seldom washed in the hand pieced days. They may be beaten on a line but not actually washed where they would have to dry on a line. Without a dryer, the cotton inside and out might mildew. Which is why some old quilts still have the paper intact inside them. Thanks for the idea of delicate and no spin.
