Took it to a class yesterday and heard all about how my inprecise piecing has made this project 'much less than perfect'. Usually use my Featherweight but don't usually take it to classes. I have the 3050 as well. You absolutely can move the needle position by changing the width of the stitch. I use 4.5 for a scant 1/4 inch with the 1/4 inch foot with the guide.
