I'm in a different camp. When I use fabric for a quilt by the time I'm finished I'm tired of the fabric! That's why I give most of my scraps away. I hate scraps, although I do like scrappy quilts. I just don't seem to make many. I don't buy as much yardage as I used to. Whatever works for you or me is the best way
