"Scents are my most proliferative memory engine"

Mine too. The smell is really fresh, might be some type of laundry soap or fabric softener. When ever I smell it, and I do periodically, it reminds me of my Grandmother; even though I know it wasn't her perfume. She herself did not smell that way. It brings me back to a specific time and place at her house, in the summer in Northern Michigan. I always ask the person if they are wearing perfume, etc and I always get a different answer. For the life of me I can't put a name to the scent. Other scents that trigger memories are other outdoor scents combined with the the way the light is or temperature; might be a slight whiff of wood smoke or rain. Besides that certain songs can bring me back to an exact time and place.
