Yes. If a batting is going to beard it is going to do it over the entire quilt top not just where the needle holes are. The fibers of the batting are migrating up between the warp and weft threads of the fabric.

It used to be that poly and wool had the worst reputations for bearding. But new processes, bonding and needle punching mitigates that and very few battings on the market are prone to it but some are. Quilters Dream Wool is one of them. QD addressed the issue and wrote a blog about it saying some of the sulfer based dyes in today's fabrics causing the issue. Here is a link to the blog.
