The insurance aspect would bother me. My friend drove for Lyft. It was lucrative, but her insurance company required her to increase her coverage at a substantial cost. You are running a "business" and as such need the proper coverage. She stopped driving because the insurance was too expensive. I think this may vary by state and insurance company.

The Lyft coverage also depended on whether she had passengers, or was on her way to or from picking a fare up.
