I buy it now, with no particular need in mind mostly. If I'm making a specific quilt, for a specific need, I buy for that need. I am careful, but often buy because the fabric "speaks" to me. I haven't figured out what to do with my ever growing pile of scraps. Besides applique, I don't like working with small squares, scraps. I don't have the patience!
