If it's a rectangular base VS2 they can look much like a 27 (the model were given the number 27 later on). If it turned out to have one of the early decal sets with flowers and roses, I would not hesitate to buy it :- ) They came with fiddle base too.
I thought Improved Family was the precursor to model 15, and a round bobbin model.
