Default DIY Suspension System $60.00
I made a DIY quilting suspension system for my mid arm that was super easy and cheap. It would work for domestics, too.

2 dog grooming arms..mine were on sale for $25.00 each and are height adjustable, 2 bungie cords and 2 clamps with holes in the handles for the bungees to attach to.

That was about it. Took me 10 minutes and works great. I think you do have to re-adjust it often, but I can get to all corners of 12" block with no drag, so far and as I learn to work with them it might get even better. It makes a big difference.
