Thank you, Onebyone! Appreciate your input. I'm doing a wall hanging with raw edge appliqué. I am stitching the appliqué down before I put the batting and backing onto the front, so I decided to just pull the mono (poly) through to the back, take a couple of stitches and then leave 1" tails. These will all be in between the "sandwich" and I believe will be stable. I'm not a fan of mono but for this project, I believe it is the best choice. This is a "reverse" appliqué where I have the holes cut in the top fabric and the yellow and blue fabrics are behind the butterfly. My GD raised 12 caterpillars into Black Swallowtail butterflies this summer. This was a photo of one that her dad sent to me.
