I don't know Miriam. This really should be a sticky, it's one of the most educational threads in the whole forum. The info isn't just for vintage machines, it's important stuff for All machines.
And in questioning the why not, why did they remove some of the stickys a while back? They were important to us too but I guess not important to them.
