I love Ripon and have visited Bungalow Quilting...the shop is in a bungalow, at the bottom of the hill from the main street! Quite homey... We were in Ripon in early December, 2018. We had to deal with some snow and rain, but that was OK (We live in the SF Bay Area but were raised in Illinois, so we know about "real winter".)
Ripon is a delightful small town, set among rolling hills and farmland. Ripon College is also on a hill in town. There are some beautiful old Victorians near the college...tree-lined streets, enabling quiet walks among the neighborhoods and meeting friendly people. My nephew and his family have lived there for 5 years. He owns and operates the Knuth Brewing Company. Nearby Green Lake is a gorgeous place to spend a day or several, just enjoying the setting and activities on the lake.

My first visit to the Green Lake / Ripon area was several years ago during January. Everything seemed like a typical Wisconsin winter with the all the snow and cold temps...causing the area lakes to freeze. As we were driving past one of the lakes, we saw folks enjoying ice fishing. That was the first time I'd seen ice fishing "live". I couldn't believe what I was seeing...little huts a hundred yards out on the ice and next to those were HUGE pick-up trucks / SUVs. Holy Cow!! Sort of reminded me of the movie "Grumpy Old Men" (Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau).

If you find yourself in Central Wisconsin, make a stop at Bungalow Quilting and take a stroll through the neighborhood around Ripon College and downtown. It's a gorgeous little town...especially in the fall.

BTW, the fabric on that umbrella is the same I used as backing for a table runner...it's currently on my table with a bouquet of flowers my cousin sent me for my birthday.

Enjoy the rest of your day and take care. Happy quilting!!
