I put the ribbed neckline into several of my squares. Cut the square as you want it as if the neck hole weren't there. Then take some fabric from somewhere else on the shirt and lay it behind the neck hole. Sew a line at the base of the ribbing at the neck. You may want to sew down the top of that ribbing also.
I had some crazy necklines that I really wanted to use and this method made that possible. One had the entire neckline, front and back, with a different color behind it. Pink for skin? I used gray.
