Well...I now consider myself an authority on dishwashers...we have been in this house 16 years and have had 4 Four dishwashers. The builder's grade that was in the house was ditched and we got a Whirlpool...it worked for about a year then got glitchy but it was the recall we got that said it was prone to catch on fire and was recalled. Went to Lowe's and exchanged it for a Bosch. Loved the Bosch. 5 years later, the Bosch died. A repair was half the price of a new dw. We bought another Bosch. 5 years later, same thing..up and died. Went back to Lowe's, talked with salesman and was told most of these things were lasting about 5 years..bought a Maytag. Love the Maytag And we also bought an extended warranty. One month before 5 years was up, the thing died. The warranty paid for the repair. the repair included replacing the entire wiring harness. Why? because when they build these machines they put in inferior plastic coverings that allow water to seep inside the machine and bingo! you have 5 yr. machine and new purchase. When this repaired one croaks, we'll go get another and will buy the extended warranty. No other choice.
