I think I would like such a gadget.
The last time I made something that needed lots of seams pressed open, I sat in front of the TV and finger pressed all the seams open. They were put into a stack as they were finished. When the stack threatened to fall over, I started a new stack.
When they were all pressed, I headed to the iron. It was quick work to press them now with no burnt fingers. You have the iron on for a much shorter time this way.
