An easy way to figure out the borders. Look at the finished size. Now deduct the total of the finished size of blocks going across. Then do the same for the length. Then compare the finished picture to calculate the sizes.
Just guessing, for this quilt.
82" width
-60 -- 5 blocks @ 12" = 60 inches
22" left for borders.
-2 (1x2) First border is probaby 1" finished
- 4 (2x2) Second border at 2" finished
-16 (2x8) 16" for final borders which would be 8 inches wide
Balance is "0"
Let's verify with the length
106" finished
-84" 7 blocks finishing at 12" each = 84
22" for borders
Bingo....but that doesn't mean I am correct. The 22" could be 1.5x2 = 3", then 3x2=6; leaving the final border as 13" which would 6 or 6.5 inch final border.
