The drawing the line is the quicker method
Back in the old day you had to figure out a triangle by adding 7/8ths to the measurement and then you either "snubbed" the ends, or went back and trimmed off the "dog ears".
I draw the lines and I pin, it gives me the accuracy I want even though my eyes don't want to show me those 7/8ths markings on the rulers!
