99 HCs road trip.
Iris and I took some of our Hand cranks 99s on another road trip. Cottonwood Falls Kansas USA had a folk life festival. We had a lot more adults there this year. A big Symphony in the Flint HIlls concert ( 7,000) peole was cancelled because a storm wrecked the venue. Whimper. I was astounded at the good attitude who had had their weekend plans wrecked with that. But many people came to visit us since they were around anyway. Our tables had visitors from Nigeria, England, and from Texas to New Jersey. We had a lot of experinced sewists who took a seat. Many kept trying to find a foot pedal. Also many were surprised at how smooth the machiens were to use, and they were impressed by the stitches. One lady from Texas nearly begged to have me service her machine. Iris (GF) lived in Texas and suggested a few places nearby to the woman and she was pretty stunned.
The woman in garb was at next table over doing crochet. A guy on the other side used one of our machines to sew rags strips together to weave rag rugs with.
The young girl had prevous experince and came by three times to make our treasure pouches. Some had big enough scraps to make cell phone cases. We'll have to cut out more for those for our next event. Our foks life festival was free. We had mountain men, a few Union soldiers, ropemakers, a windmill guy, kettle corn, spinners, one quilter pottery lots of old time crafts. I enjoyed kites made from three bird feathers.
Iris finished her top and bicycle skirt just in time for the even. Her blouse gave ner new machine fits with the button holes.. Out came the featherweight to the rescue..once again. OUr biggest problem was that our chairs kept sinking in to the yard of the old courthouse. And yes, Many poele enjoyed sitting on my 38" Pennyfarthing, too.
