I use the blanket stitch a lot for applique, the serpentine stitch to sandwich my charity quilts--that way, if you don't hit the corner exactly, it is very forgiving. When I am doing receiving blankets and burp clothes, I use different decorative stitches.
Same here...blanket stitch, serpentine and I also use numbers and alphabet to make labels from time to time. Murphy’s Law...if my machine didn’t have them, I would surely end up needing them for something.
