That's because I'm thinking you've got the the 2200 mini. You've got the longarm! Sorry about that.
You can't use a top-stitch needle in that machine, either.

If the fabric is stretched too tight it will skip stitches. Also, turning the needle slightly to the left or right may help. When the presser foot is in it's lowest position (which is when the needle is in it's lowest position), the space between the foot and the needle plate should only be the width of a business card.
