I've sold jewelry for over 20 yrs. I love JTV. if you'rea beginner, you must go. they give you first hand info. they tell you all about whatever it is they are selling. years ago, I would buy my loose stones from them. I have a 5 ct. trillion shaped Morganite, with a special cut on the pavilion,(bottom facets). It's call a spinfire design. It's super pink/salmon. I got it for pennies on the dollar, before everyone jumped on the bandwagon. I was lucky enough to get a very heavy 1 ct. diamond mounting for it in heavy 14 kt gold. I have no idea how much it would cost now. but at least 5 times what I paid for it. I got a smaller version for a necklace. I had it mounted with a swirl of diamonds looking like they were splashed over it. they sell a lot of things most jewelry stores don't even know exist. find something you like. they are setting a lot of stones in silver now, which means everyone can afford it on their stretch pay. find something you like, and go for it.
Another site, Gem select in Bangkok has a nice array of stones too. I got my rubies there about 10 yrs ago. 4 heart shaped stones with a total ct. weight of 25 cts. they were beauties. so try those two and good luck.
please let me know what you get. good luck. oh, and it's addicting. my dh threatened to put partental controls on my tv.
