That offset strip method you linked is what I use for my pieced bindings.

No matter how hard I try I end up with seams in/near/next to my miters. I just avoid one on my first corner and go from there. In my defense, I did spend a couple of decades laying out the binding all around first before giving up.

We were chatting about this some on Tuesday in my small group. I have a seam line about 1/16" of an inch from my miter. I just laughed. Two of the other ladies said that they would have pieced in a larger piece and I can see how that would be nicer.
I thought about putting in a larger piece - but not until I had completed the quilt!
