I made the oldest (the super artist) a blue log cabin queen size when he was moving out and when I gave it to him, he started to cry. He said how beautiful it was and how amazed he was that I could take flat old fabric and make something so special, whether it was clothing or quilts. This stopped me cold and completely changed how I looked at my work. We are artists, we do create, we need to see this for ourselves and give ourselves the pat on the back. we don't usually make mistakes, we are adding design elements!
None of my quilts will ever see the inside of any show or never hanging on a wall. They are utilitarian only. I have never considered myself to be an 'artist' like all the prize winners here, but I want to thank you for pointing out that, yes, indeed all quilts are artwork, and so, we are all artists!!
