DeltaMimi - Back in December it ended up that I found an amazing deal on the Juki 2000QVP, test-drove it extensively at the dealer, and decided that it was a good choice for me. (A Janome 6600 would have been quite a bit more; it runs about $2,000 new, here in Massachusetts.) The Juki also came with a user DVD and I found it to be very user-friendly and intuitive once I got it home. I've been very happy with it.

Ironically, I recently was able to purchase a pre-owned Janome 6600 - which I plan to use as a second machine. I am going to have it serviced first, though. (It really needs to be cleaned.) My first impression has been that the learning curve will be steeper for this machine. I'm confident that I will eventually be comfortable with it, but will be relying heavily on the manual for its unique features. The dealer who will be servicing it spoke very highly of the 6600 and said it will last for years.
