QuiltE, the vinyl just gets put through with the feed dogs like any other fabric. I will say that sometimes I have had skipped stitches even with using my Teflon foot. But sadly the little tricks people told me to do with the tape on the underside of the regular foot and putting tissue paper between the vinyl and the presser foot those didn’t work for me!
