I've been learning to use and appreciate large scale prints for awhile now, when I realized that most of my fabric was what I call "tiny vine-y".
One easy option is to make large Half-Square Triangles, block sized with half light and half dark fabric. Then look at all the ways you can twist and turn blocks to make log cabin quilt designs, from the center star, streak of lightening, etc. This can be very effective with a pieced sashing, 2 narrow outside rows with one wider center and then full squares of the center where the rows connect.
