Years ago I was asked to make 2 identical quilts for a woman in a nursing home. One she would use and the other would be the pal on her casket when she died. This way too when the daughter took the one quilt home to launder and bring back the same day her mom always had her precious quilt with her. When she died her quilt was laid over her casket as planned. The quilt took the place of any traditional flowers. Afterwards each of the 2 sisters had their mom's favorite quilt.

Then in 2010 I did something similar for my precious Aunt Mary. She loved purple so on her request I made her a purple quilt that each block was a Bible theme. She slept under it for a bit over a year before she became ill and had to be placed in a nursing home. As she had requested it was placed on her casket when she died. Now I sleep under it. This is that quilt.
To make a small quilt for an Urn would be something very special and made with love before your death with instruction that is should either be entered with you or given to a loved one with your ashes. It is a great privilege to have such a special quilt.
