The layout was fairly random. I would sew 2 blocks together, press, and then pick blocks to make the seams nest. Then groups of 4, I would pick blocks to make the seams nest, not really worrying about the color. I tried to keep identical blocks apart, but I have 2 that ended up right by each other. But that's randomness :)
No clue! Heh, my rule is when I get sick of quilts to set them aside. I usually get much better results when I work with it later. I'll see something and go "oh, that would be perfect for the quilt I started 2 years ago" and then I pick it up and work on it
