Have you looked in the department stores ... or wherever they sell irons and accessories? I ask this because I have a metal extension on my ironing board end that is a hot iron prop and it has an antenna-like contraption clamped to it that holds the iron's cord up in the air ... leaving the cord long enough to iron easily (plus the antenna bends), but keeping it out of my way and out of the way of pets and kids. Mine came already attached to the ironing board, but they might have such a thing for sale, separately, in the stores. It might be worth your while to look before you buy a new iron. I have my iron plugged into a power bar that sits on a shelf about 2 feet off the floor and therefore very near my ironing board, which helps tremendously with my cord length, etc.
