I have a cordless iron, it's a strange European brand so that information is no use to you! But I love it. It stays hot long enough to iron a few blocks and reheats very quickly. If I'm ironing yardage, I iron the section on the board, put the iron on it's stand, move the fabric to the next section and the iron is hot again. It also has the facility to be used corded and a facility to lock it on the stand, which is a great safety feature as I have two little kids. I love it. In fact, I have two, one in the sewing room and one downstairs for DH's shirts - guess which I use most?

I would say check out the heating up time (DH says that's to do with wattage!) and look for one that can also be used corded. But as a principle, it's a great thing! :-D
