Update.....my problem was that I wasn't seating the bobbin thread firmly enough in the tension path. As a result it would jump out after a while so would still feed through to the needle but with no tension. Once I started paying more attention to my bobbin placement procedure I was "home and hosed." Thankyou those who offered suggestions.
