I love you guys! We try to abstain but we admit our human desires for fabric.

Yesterday was a pretty full day of using up stash. I did spray baste the Seahawk Pink top. I was using June Tailor which for me was very heavily scented and doesn't hold up as well as my old brand. Also, the top finger pointer part fell off immediately as soon as I took off the cap and every time I took my finger off it. Not doing that brand again. I know a lot of people here use glue but I'll look into that next time, had to get the project done this time.

I also laid out the Scrap Metal quilt in 15 minutes or less! Good for me for not being so picky. May have made a mistake or two when I scooted over the rows and if I did -- well, so be it. You can't tell.

My hubby came home and saw it laid out on the bed and thought for a moment before coming up with "wow, a lot going on with that one". I just laughed and told him unfortunately it was going to be staying with us. So not only did I get it laid out and numbered but I also pinned on the diagonal setting triangles and finally cut out the final 4 corner triangles which will all be the same fabric. Still need to go in and pin some of the middle sections of rows together before hitting the sewing machine, maybe 15 minutes but my back was saying "15 minutes of no way" by the end of the day.

While doing that I had the washer going. I had a cool thrift store scrap of some realistic rocks that will be the border of the sea scene panel. The way the fabric was it started with large rocks on the bottom and they got smaller towards the top. The top of the panel will have the smallest rocks, the bottom the largest and the sides will be the middle rocks. It will work... So got that washed and cut, there was just enough to leave me a 6.5" strip for my strip box and still have a selvedge worth sending on.

Also washed the white with red dot fabric I got for the next project, and subcut it into the 8.5" strips that still need to be subcut. And of course there was general laundry to deal with as well.

So today's goal is to finish pinning and sew/press this round of the block connection of Scrap Metal. As I wander back and forth, I will also do some more cutting of the next project which doesn't have a name yet. In order to get in more steps I moved my cutting station off my desk in my sewing room to my dining room table, the ironing board is in the living room, Bernie is in the sewing room, and I do my layout stuff in the bedroom. It might not seem like much but before I just used to sit in my chair and spin around from sewing machine to desk to ironing board. It is easy to get distracted *squirrel* and forget what I'm actually doing at the moment but I get a lot done.

On Sunday after bowling going to go talk with the kids. I had volunteered that I was willing to commit to watching the grand bundle 2 days a week if they could make that work. Doesn't look like it will so we need to get going on what we will be doing when DDiL goes back to work. I am willing to commute to their house 4 days a week until baby is around 3 months old, or basically until the end of the year. To do that will mean about an hour commute for me each way in the dark cold rain at the worst part of the year, driving doesn't save that much more time and is more stressful and the parking would be much more expensive than a transit pass -- but it will still be about $100 a month as far as I can tell without better data.

After that we can see where we are, and I would be glad to continue watching him but I would rather spend at least 2 days at my own home. It isn't the most direct route but we are sort of on the way to my daughter's work, it will probably add 30 minutes each way to her commute.

Looks like some big changes in my life. Probably a lot less sewing, but I still quilted when my own son was a baby. And that's the nice thing about quilting and fabric, it stores. But Leon will never be quite as young as he is right now
