I am posting to give you a suggestion for Fabric to use. My dorm quilt that is still in use today....1976 to 2019.. is made of Blue jeans of all different shades. The pattern is squares. The backing is red denim. After college graduation and getting married, the denim quilt has been used at picnics...went to football games to keep us warm in the stands, Laid on the ground for a Play Mat for babies and so on!
A lady went door to door and sold her quilts. I paid $30. It never goes out of style and the denim is tough to hold up through the years. She didn't put batting in this quilt. It is heavy and requires washing and drying at the laundromat. She even made a few squares out of the pockets of the jeans!
