I understand what you are saying. But if I take out the blue and put in another beige type warm color, I think the quilt will lose it's sparkle and punch and be bland.
I agree with this, especially if you want it to be scrappy.
I learned my lesson on 2 different scrappy quilts that both happened to be green. One had all similar shades of a forest green and the piecing was indistinguishable. The second one had all colors and shades of green: mint, forest, sage, turquoise, kelly, spring, smoky. And it turned out gorgeous.
