Drafting the pattern totally cleared it up for me. Now, I'm sure I can make it.
This is the basic block. The blocks on the edge add triangles, but it looks easy, other than making sure the seams match. They are laid out on the diagonal (it will be my first diagonal quilt).

This is hard to see, as I used colored pencils. Now, I know where every fabric goes. I'll just have to make sure I label every block. I'm totally in awe that drafting it made it make sense.
