Sheep get wet, and hardly ever shrink.
Many wools can be washed - gently with little or no agitation - and line dried. Knitted wool sweaters had to be blocked back to shape after washing and then dried flat. Also, avoid temperature extremes of water. Tepid (lukewarm) to cool water for both the wash and rinses.
