On the throat plate are there burr's on the hole that the needle goes through? If this is the problem you can use a metal finger nail to smooth it out.
I was thinking of a burr as a possible cause, and that's why we changed needle and bobbin both. I'll have her check the hole through the plate. We hadn't thought of that.
