Some red wine bottles are 13 inches, some are 12 inches. Some white wine bottles especially the more slender chic type are 13-14 inches tall. Definitely add the extra height so that the carrier closes over the bottle.
These measurements are for regular 750 ml/75cl bottles; champagne/cava/sparkling wine bottles may be taller.
