Those are lovely -- something I see a lot of but don't use myself are the discontinued fabric sample books for interior design stores. Pieces that size would fit in nicely in your projects. I see them in the thrift stores and on Craig's List. Usually pretty darn close to free.

So much fun potential if the sizes work for you (9x13). I think affordable, the Cyber Monday sale wasn't that great a deal off so don't need to feel bad about missing it.
