Perhaps the 27 has a "boss", and can be made into a handcrank (make a simple base for it)? Then you could have an electric, a treadle, and an HC.
Singer 27s and some 66s share similar parts...low shank feet, spool pins. Easily gotten, including shuttle and bobbin for the 27. Most straight stitch machines just need that good oiling and are ready to sew again.
I agree, the price on the Winthrop is high. The name may be the name of the store that sold it, hardware or department...
