I wanted to share this, as I already have two of these fantastic machines! I saw on Facebook in my general area (Forest MS) that someone is selling this black 301 with a great cabinet and stool that has storage. They are asking $100! A steal...
The 301 was Singer's first "Slant-O-Matic" model. The sewing visibility is great! And if you need it to be portable, lift the handle on the top of the machine and simply lift it out of the cabinet. It weighs 17 lbs, only 6 lbs more than a featherweight. Also, these have gear driven, 'potted' motors (internal), so they sew much stronger than any belt-driven machine.
