I do that any time I am putting a square ona corner and diagonal stitching- flying geese, square in a square, snow blocks- if the corner is going to be cut off I stitch a second line and trim between the two lines so I always have stacks of half square triangle squares to play with when Iím scrap creating. Itís so much easier than sewing together the bias edge triangles and no waste. Win- win.
