I purchased my own digitizing software for use with my brothers machine since when I bought my machine there was nothing available. Most digitizing software is designed to create an embroidery design in any format you need. The less expensive of the 2 digitizing software programs I have is Embird. It is fully capable of doing what you want and for many is prefered. My preference however is by Corel. It is much more costly however. I love the editor in better than Embird. You can take a jpeg and convert it in either of these programs. For me this was the way to go. I have used both so much over the years and just the convenience of having it here has been the biggest advantage..
I would think that the cheap digitizing service would work for you. Especially if you are a novice. Then decide if you want something more.
