I have a Bernina 930, and it is an awesome machine! It's weakness is the basting devise. If it isn't used regularly, it will freeze up. Then your needle bar won't go up and down. One other thing is the feed dogs, If they are cut like teeth, then you have the feed dog upgrade, which is good. If the feed dogs are cut like xxxx, you can't us a walking foot. It just doesn't grab enough to pull fabric through. It has the "needle up" feature, which can go wonky, but is pretty easy to fix.

It does better than my newer Bernina, on heavy fabrics. And it never skips stitches. You might be able to talk the price down $50.
