My M-N-L turned 80 in July and I made her a 'Celebration' Quilt at first I said memory quilt then I decided we were Celebrating not remembering. Each block represents an aspect of her life 1. Her family tree. 2. church 3. marriage - husband died in 1982 - 4. son my husband 5. home life 6.daughter and her family 7. square dancing 8. work at the court house 9. playing bridge10. breast cancer survivor 11. just a collection of pics 12. Happy 80th Birthday. In January my M-N-L passed away she spent 3 days at a hospice center with her family around her. We brought her celebration quilt in and had it on her bed. We also took the quilt to the funeral home for the visitation with family and friends. I never realized what the quilt meant to our family until then. The quilt will come back to me and my husband but since we don't have kids later on it will go to one of the grand daughters and then on to her great grand daughter who just turned 5.
