When I started quilting through the layers, my thread started fraying and breaking. My needle is the 110 size that I used to sew my jelly roll rug. Should I change needle? Get stronger thread? What kind of thread? Haven't heard of the threads mentioned here, only basic brands sold at walmart.
Anyway, I put it on the back burner till I get more info so that I don't get frustrated.

It would help to know the type of thread you are using.....you need to match the thread size to the needle....too thick of thread with too small needle will result in fraying and also the opposite will too....the too thin thread will flop around in the scarf of the needle....I think a poly thread will work better than a cotton one.....
