you can use the blue elmer's glue around your drawing to stop the bleeding. put a narrow line around the area and allow to dry before starting your work, it will wash out when you are done. I usually dry color and add water as I want with a brush. if there is a break in the glue line it will bleed through so be careful. my art quilt group uses this prosses often. good luck with your quilt, I would add a pale wash to blend in the run colors. what have you got to lose!
