Default Loud Noise with a Viking machine

I have had a Viking Sapphire 875 Q for a long time. Like NJ Quilter above, my Sapphire always makes a noise when I turn it on and the needle moves just a little bit - like it's adjusting things to get ready to sew. I also fill bobbins with the thread from the needle and place the thread under the foot - I usually only do this with a metal foot, not plastic. (Some machines bobbins do better when you don't wind the bobbin at top speed.) I used to work at a Quilt shop that sells Viking and Baby Lock machines - the Vikings are louder in general when you turn them on and when you sew. I have to say that Baby Locks are quieter. Maybe the next time you have maintenance on your machine tell them about the loud noise and ask them to check out things in and underneath the machine while they have the case off. I hope you find out what it might be....
