They have template kits now you can buy, Karla was one of the founders of the technique and the book teaches you to do it without templates and gives a lot of good directions on how to get enough fabrics to mix well, that's the Stacking the Deck part.
I've lost track of how many quilts I have made using Karla Alexander "stack the deck" concept. I've made them any where from a 7 1/2" block to a 15" block. They are almost like potato chips, can't stop with just one
