I've been seeing some slow response times lately that for me is mostly demand on our system load in my neighborhood. I switched out of google a couple of months ago for duck duck go and I'm not fully happy with either option yet. So I haven't used google enough to notice a difference.
I would advise running some extra virus/malware type scans and cleaning out your history. Just in case...
But on the other hand, sometimes things are going on that we are largely unaware about, the online game I play has (or claims, conspiracy stories vary) somewhat regular ddos attacks. I can definitely tell when those happen, sometimes I can play and sometimes I am in queue for what is estimated to be something like 1000 years.
